CERBACK is a ceramic backing material suitable for shipbuilding, marine facilities, plants and other steel structures and is widely used for one side welding technique such as CO2 semiautomatic welding and automatic welding. CERBACK is a fine ceramic product composed of adequately mixed natural inorganic substances (kaolin, talc, alumina, magnesia etc.) that are heat-treated at high temperatures of 1,350°C to 1,400°C/ span.

Since CERBACK is heat-treated at high temperatures its shock resistance to rapid heating and cooling is excellent (coefficient of thermal expansion is 1.85-2.5×10?6 at 1,000°C) and maintains superb stability against the high temperatures. Creates good beads on the back side.

CERBACK has excellent characteristics of ceramic such as anti-acid, anti chemicals and anti-corrosion and also causes no change or reaction of steel at the time of welding. CERBACK speeds production, improves worker efficiency and reduces costs. It allows one-sided welding for steel, alloys and aluminium of any thickness. The product is composed of ceramic tiles attached to aluminium tape on which specific heat-resistant adhesives are spread. Designed for one-sided welding, it produces smooth and homogeneous back beads even with high electric current. This product is designed to provide welds that are free from porosity and inclusions. The CERBACK series can be used with most types of one-sided welding including FCAW, GMAW, SAW, SEG ARC
